Meet the Tasmanian tiger

The Tasmanian tiger was also called the thylacine.
It looked a bit like a dog, but it was not a dog.
It had dark stripes across its back, which is why people called it a tiger.
It was a marsupial, so mothers carried tiny babies in a belly pouch.
Tasmanian tigers are not alive today. That means they are extinct.
