A hand pulls

one yellow boot.

Rubber squeaks.

POP!

Boot comes off.

Bare toes wiggle.

Cold, cold grass.

Other boot now.

Squeak, squeak—

Two boots off.

The boots swap places, feet go in, and the big puddle waits.
