Hard corners.

Small hands grip.

Clack.
Clack.

Open mouth.

Fast hands.

Clack-clack.

One block down.

Tink.

Two blocks up.

Clack.

Red on yellow.

Yellow on red.

Square edge.

Flat side.

Rough carpet

under knees.

Hand pats carpet.

Pat.

Block bangs floor.

THUD.

Again.

THUD.

Again.

BUMP.

The tower grows.

One.

Two.

Three.

Hands move fast.

Clack.
Clack-clack.
Clack-clack-clack.
DOWN! THUD. BUMP. CLACK.
The yellow block wobbles, the red block leans, and the tower comes down.

Yellow block wobbles.

Red block leans.

Baby blinks.

The tower tips.

Slow.

Slow.

Then—

DOWN!

BUMP.

CLACK.

Blocks hit carpet.

Red block rolls.

Yellow block falls.

One block spins.

Tink.

Small hand stops.

Open mouth.

Still carpet.

Still blocks.

rolls once.

Rolls again.

Stops.
