The Washing Machine Whirl
A rhythmic laundry room toddler story with spinning clothes, soapy bubbles, a red sock and one soft click.
Nose on knees.
Hands on floor.
The drum goes round.
Slosh-slosh.
Whirrr.
A red sock sticks
to the wet glass.
Flat sock.
Squashed sock.
Round it goes.
Soap climbs up.
White bubbles press.
Push, push.
Shirt rolls over.
Vest rolls under.
Sock comes back.
Round again.
Round again.
Red sock.
Blue pants.
Small grey vest.
Round, round, round.
The floor hums.
Hands feel it.
Fast now.
Faster.
The sock smears red.
The glass goes wet.
The drum pulls hard.
Then slow.
Slow.
Slower.
One turn.
Two turns.
A soft drop runs
down the glass.
The sock rests.
The bubbles sink.
No chug.
No slosh.
No whirr.
The small hand waits.
The round door gives
one little
Click.
